Contact: Captain Patrick Halleran, Public Information Officer - Belmont Police & Fire Departments (650) 595-7430
The suspect in a residential burglary that occurred earlier in the month on Marsten Ave, was arrested early today, culminating a month-long investigation by Belmont PD Detectives.
On the afternoon Monday 3/6/17 Belmont PD responded to a burglar alarm at a home in the 4100 block of Marsten Ave. The suspect had apparently fled when the alarm was activated and was not located. Follow-up investigation by BPD Detectives found that home security cameras in the neighborhood had captured images of the suspect, an adult African American male, wearing a gray hoodie, dark baseball cap, dark pants and dark shoes and his vehicle a silver 2005 Infinity sedan. Further investigation lead to the identification of the suspect as Anthony Redwood age 27 of San Bruno.
Early today, Friday 3/31/17 at approximately 4am, San Bruno Police located Redwood's vehicle at a motel in their city. Redwood was subsequently taken into custody without incident, by Belmont PD Detectives, with the assistance of San Bruno Officers. Redwood was booked into the San Mateo County Jail on a charge of residential burglary.
Belmont PD would like to thank all the residents of the neighborhood who provided information and security video, which directly led to the identification and subsequent arrest of this burglar. This case highlights the value of alarm systems, home security cameras and close neighborhood/police cooperation.
