Weekday Morning Restaurant Burglary
Contact: Captain Patrick Halleran, Public Information Officer - Belmont Police & Fire Departments (650) 595-7430
On Wednesday, 7/19/17 at approximately 6:50AM during morning commute, a restaurant in the 1600 block of El Camino was burglarized. The incident is currently under investigation and Belmont Police investigators are hoping that recently obtained security camera footage will help lead them to the suspect.
The suspect rode to the location on a bicycle, northbound on the east side of El Camino from the area of San Carlos. He used a chair from the outdoor dining area to smash a front window of the restaurant and entered by climbing through the broken window. Once inside, he walked around the business and checked out the cash register, prior to exiting via a door at the north end of the business, but then briefly re-entered the restaurant through the same door and then left again. After exiting, he can be seen sitting on the curb in front of the business, next to his bicycle prior to leaving. At this time nothing appears to have been taken from the restaurant.
The suspect is an Asian male in his 30's - 40's, medium height and weight, with short hair, a receding hairline and is clean shaven. He was wearing a black sweatshirt over an orange hoodie and jeans. No details on his bicycle are available at this time.
The security video footage has been posted on the Belmont Public Safety YouTube Channel (www.youtube.com/belmontpublicsafety) and still photos from the video accompany this press release. Persons with information on this incident and/or the suspect are asked to contact Belmont Police at 650-595-7400 or email@example.com
