Commission Application Deadline Extended

Belmont, CA  --  The City of Belmont is extending the application deadline for two of its commissions (Planning and Finance) in order to gather a sufficient pool of candidates for the City Council to consider. The deadline is extended to Friday, February 9, 2007, at 5:00 p.m. The application form is available on the City’s website: www.belmont.gov under “City Council and Commissions,” by calling (650) 595-7413, or in person at the City Clerk’s Office, City Hall, One Twin Pines Lane, Suite 375.

There are two seats set to expire on the Planning Commission for three-year terms expiring March 1, 2010. The Planning Commission meets the first and third Tuesdays of the month at 7:00 p.m. The Commission reviews and takes action on planning applications, and makes recommendations to the City Council on zoning and land use issues.

There are three seats set to expire on the Finance Commission. The Finance Commission meets bi-monthly on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. and participates in the budget review process, conducts an annual review of the City’s investment policy and, at the request of the City Council, evaluates proposals, programs and contracts for long and short term financial consequences. Finance Commissioners serve for three-year terms.

A number of applications were received by the initial deadline of January 31st for the Parks and Recreation Commission (both Adult and Youth seats), so no additional applications will be considered at this time.

To apply for either of these commissions and to have an opportunity to make a contribution to your community, fill out the application form available on the website or from the City Clerk’s Office (One Twin Pines Lane, Suite 375), and return it to the City Clerk no later than 5:00 PM on Friday, February 9, 2007. Applicants must live in Belmont.

For more information, contact the City Clerk’s Office at 650-595-7413.
