The Giving Tree

Mr. Smith, an elderly widower who lives by himself, is a regular attendee at the Twin Pines Senior & Community Center. He  recently lost his driver’s license, and got upgraded from using a cane to a walker. Nevertheless, every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday he gets picked up from his home by the Twin Pines Shuttle and is taken to the Center to participate in the Senior Lunch Program, which is run by volunteers. He gets a complete, nutritious meal with  salad or soup, an  entrée, and even dessert. But the best part for him is the opportunity to meet up with old friends and chat the meal away.

Mr. Smith is one of the many community members from all over the Peninsula who visit the Center on a regular basis. Sometimes for a movie, for a game of cards, for a cup of coffee with the morning paper, or for the only complete meal they will have throughout the day. But the greatest benefit is having the opportunity to spend time with other people.

Dear Twin Pines Senior & Community Center Neighbor,

We ask for your help. Our mission is to provide an engaging environment for seniors, enhance the quality of their lives, and serve as an integral part of the Belmont Community. For over 28 years, we have been helping Belmont and our Peninsula neighbors stay connected, which enriches our community. There are no membership fees and participation is open to all adults. Your donation will allow us to continue to offer our services, and to expand upon them to meet the needs and interests of the growing senior population while maintaining a quality space for the community to gather.

Contributions from people like you are significant in our ability to  continue delivering these services. Please take a moment and make a tax deductible donation to The Giving Tree today. Donations are deposited to the Senior Fund, overseen by the Senior Advisory Committee; which is made up of community members like you.  You may do so in person or by mail.  If writing a check,  you can make checks payable to the City of Belmont—Senior Fund. See our brochure for The Giving Tree, our new donor recognition program where your donation will be prominently recognized at the Twin Pines Senior and Community Center.

Thank you for your help and support. You will be making a difference in your community.
